Ethel and Norman Thayer are spending their 48th summer at their vacation home on Golden Pond, in the woods of Maine fishing, picking strawberries, enjoying old mementos, listening to the loons. Their daughter Chelsea visits for Norman’s 80th birthday, bringing her boyfriend Bill and Bill’s teenage son, Billy Jr. While Norman blossoms with his chance to mentor young Billy. The turbulent relationship between father and daughter, the generation gap between young and old, and the difficulties of a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage, all combine in a play that effortlessly illustrates the hilarious, heartbreaking, human moments of which life is made.

25th Annual Putnam County Spelling BeeFall Show Auditions

Auditions for The Charitable Sisterhood of the Second Trinity Victory Church will be Tuesday, March 18 and Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 7 p.m. at the Elizabeth Reinholz Theatre, Beloit Memorial High School, 1225 Fourth Street, Beloit, WI 53511.

It’s 1977 and the roads are flooded, the bridges are washed out, and less generous souls are staying safely indoors, but it takes more than a little rain to keep the ladies of the Charitable Sisterhood from fulfilling their sworn mission.

The ladies meet to organize a relief effort with a small mountain of community donations—but one woman’s junk is another woman’s treasure, and that pile of stuff is hiding a mystery or two.

Come sit in on this month’s meeting in the basement of Second Trinity Victory Church; our five angels of mercy will leave you breathless with laughter as they do their best to help the victims of global disaster, spiritual deprivation and, most of all, one another.

5 women are required.

Doris Tropp will be directing.
